Eagle Court of Honor for Jacob Baggett. February 4, 2012. Rexburg, Idaho
This is the cake that Jacob and I made for his Eagle Court of Honor.  It took us 16 hours start to finish.  We ordered chocolate molds for the eagle and for the Boy Scout Symbol.

Balanced Rock with Grandma & Grandpa

Jacob and Rachel got to spend some fun time picking rock with Grandpa Baggett and then they had fun going with Grandma & Grandpa on a picnic to Balanced Rock. They always have so much fun and get way spoiled when they go to Buhl! I'm a little jealous.

Dallin's Educational Trip

Dallin, Kadi, Debi and Boyd left right after Winter Semester for a cruise from Tampa Florida. Upon our arrival in Tampa, we went through a huge Aquarium seeing all kinds and colors of beautiful fish and frogs and octopus and even sting rays. We were able to touch the sting rays -- wierd! On the Ship that was larger than most buildings in Rexburg, we ate and relaxed and enjoyed beautiful music.
On one of the evenings we had a formal dinner and Dallin and Kadi looked amazing. They clean up real nice. I think they were amazed by the wonderful menu of cuisine from all over the world. It was sweet and we loved getting to know the wonderful people at our table. Dallin's favorite part was the all you can eat ice cream and hamburgers and pizza all afternoon.

At Costa Maya we all went out Scuba Diving off a beautiful reef where again we experienced the sea life up close - even closer than the aquarium. It was an amazing experience to see the reef and the colorful life there! And the best part was the wonderfully warm, blue water! I think we could have stayed there all week!

The hardest part of the week was when we heard of Grandma Baggett's death on the morning we left. We wanted so much to be home and be with family but instead we returned on the day of her funeral. We love you Grandma!
************************************************

Tulum was fun also - we got to see several of the Mayan ruins and had our testimonies of the Book of Mormon reinforced as the tour guides told of the great white God who descended out of heaven and appeared to a people who were waiting for him according to prophecy. Jesus Christ is the center of our lives and we know he lives! What a spring so far!

Winter Months

Jacob played Indoor Soccer through the winter - he was so fun to watch at the YMCA in Idaho Falls. He's having fun and keeping us busy. He loves to practice anytime he is not crewing for the Standard Journal.

Dallin got a snowmobile at Action Motors and within only a couple months had sold it. But, while he had it he took it out often to play and have fun.

Kadi was living at home during Winter Semester. She brought her friends home once in awhile and we had fun getting to know them. Alexis stayed with us on weekends so they could be ready for their campus ward early on Sunday mornings. Now that they moved back to La Jolla apartments its a little quiet around here. We miss their smiles and laughs!

BriAnn announced that she and Michael are expecting their first baby in August. We're thrilled for them!

Tanner and Rachel have been busy chasing everyone else's schedules. Rachel is still playing her piano lots and loves teaching Tanner like he is in school. Tanner switched to afternoon kindergarten this semester.

Wow! What a winter!

Fall 2009

Life is fast in the Baggett house. Kadi took a road trip to Logan with some friends. She has been busy with school and is taking lots of fun classes. She will be moving back home during the holidays so we can have her with us more often for awhile.

Dallin was in cross country again this fall. His team went to state so he got the looooong bus ride to Cour d'Alene and then the even loooooooonger ride back home again. He has worked some long hours this fall too -- his boss, Brett Jensen, is one of the best contractors in Rexburg and does some beautiful work. Dallin has loved learning about working with wood and has worked on some awe inspiring projects. We got to see some of his work in the Rexburg Parade of Homes. Wow! Right now he is loving life as we have more snow and he gets to go snowboarding with his friends and disappears at times to go play basketball.

Jacob played soccer, soccer and more soccer. He was on the Junior High JV team and played as often as he could. Sometimes he even stayed after his games to see if one of the teams following his would need a player for the next game. Right now he is playing on an indoor soccer team and has games each Saturday in Idaho Falls.

Rachel loves school and is Tanner's full time teacher. She just had her Christmas piano recital and she danced this week at the Madison High School Basketball game. Wow, is she growing up fast and she's as tall as big brother, Jacob.

Tanner is one of a kind -- He is top of the World as a new Kindergartener! Nobody can feel as big and awesome as he does now that he is in SCHOOL!
He is one happy guy that keeps us all happy!

Spring 2009

Busy Spring

2009

In March, Dallin and Jacob were both advanced in the priesthood. Dallin was ordained a Priest and then stood in to assist in ordaining Jacob a Deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood.

It was a beautiful day as we relish the blessings of the priesthood in our lives. What a privilege it is to hold the priesthood and to be on the earth when the priesthood has been restored to the earth.

Dallin's 16 now!!!

Look out girls -- Dallin took Ashley to the his first High School Dance. His official dating years have started and ... he stays busy chasing lots of cute girls. The only thing that seems to take a higher priority in life is driving and he got his drivers license this spring as well. He spent most of the summer at Grandpa Baggett's working on the farm (and fishing with Grandpa as much as possible).

Jacob's
Track &
School

Jacob seems to be taking after Dallin in that he is running and fast! He seems to enjoy the long distance where he can wear out the competition. He makes his Dad very proud just like Dallin does. We all just wish we had the energy he has and could focus it in one direction!

While Jacob was running his races, Tanner was out on the other side of the field running his own races and sometimes even thought he could beat the actual runners. He also seems to have a unlimited amount of energy and likes to tease the girls. Jacob is a super example to his little brother. Jacob was in a play called "California Here We Come" and Jacob was the "American writer".

His last big project for school year was his report on Thomas Edison. Jacob dressed up like Edison to display his masterpiece as he shows an incredible man of history's influence on the world! He was on cloud nine talking about Edison who was a man of persistence and determination.

Rachel's
Dance
2009

Rachel enjoyed dancing with a group of 3-18 year olds who put on a fun show on May 16, 2009. It was super to see Rachel so excited about the show! She worked hard to learn the moves for weeks and she was one of the first acts on the stage. While at the show, Tanner was bored sitting there waiting till Rachel came on the scene and then he sat spellbound watching his sister shine. He is her biggest fan!

Besides dance, Rachel and Jacob both took part in a fun piano recital and both did very well. They are surprising Dad and Mom with so many exciting talents. And to make it even better they practice hard to make it all possible. Tanner -- you better watch and learn!!!

Memorial Day 2009 with

Grandma and Grandpa Parris

Debi with her Mom and Gretchen

at Harmony's gravesite

For Memorial Day we went to meet Deanna and Gretchen at the cemetery before heading to the cabin at Bear Lake. Our hearts were touched as we remembered several from Deanna's family and from Don's who passed on before. While at Bear Lake Don took us on some beautiful 4-wheeler rides and then to top off the weekend, Debi and Dallin golfed for the first time with Grandpa Parris. We all had such a wonderful visit and just got to enjoy lots of fun time together!

Jacob, Rachel, Tanner & Dallin at Great Grandpa Parris' grave

Tanner's Big Tube Ride

Okay, so Tanner isn't such a big fan of tubing yet. But, we're making progress. For one of our several trips to Island Park, Tanner rode the tube with Boyd and had fun until it got a little fast (almost 2 miles per hour).

Despite having to talk him into the rides on the tube, Tanner loves the water. We can hardly keep ahold of him in the swimming pool. He loves to jump in and even did a flip off the diving board despite the fact that he has to really work to get to the side. As soon as we took off his lifejacket so he could learn to swim better, he just took off -- it was almost impossible to keep up with him. To make it even harder, he goes after someone (like Jacob or Rachel) and just hangs onto them to hold himself up! Its scary because he pulls them under if they aren't expecting it or if they are just trying to stay afloat themselves.

Jacob's 1st Wakeboard Success

Meanwhile, Jacob had his first successful wakeboard trip in July at Island Park. It didn't last a long time -- only to the first attempted jump. But, Jacob did it and felt great about it. His only disappointment was that Dallin wasn't there to see it. He had to call that night to let Dallin know he got up by himself. We've had a ball this summer with several boating trips. We just love it!

Kadi's Graduation

Kadi graduated from Dental Assistant School in March 2009. She graduated top of her class.

She took a job with Dr. Hughes in Twin Falls, Idaho while rooming with Grandma & Grandpa Baggett. What a summer she has had -- she's loved the Singles Ward there in Twin Falls and she has had some great times "farming" with Grandma and Grandpa and Dallin.

We'll all be glad to have her back home this fall as she returns to BYU-Idaho.

BriAnn & Michael's Wedding

On April 25, 2009 BriAnn and Michael were married in the Rexburg Idaho Temple! What a beautiful day for all of us to witness as they promised each other an everlasting love for time and all eternity.

BriAnn's mission to Japan never happened -- instead her mission in marriage with Michael is just beginning. She will still teach the gospel of Jesus Christ but with the companion of her choosing as she and Michael begin their family here in Rexburg.

BriAnn is studying Art with an emphasis in photography right now and hoping to graduate from BYU-Idaho next summer. Michael is studying International Relations and political science and is currently planning to graduate from BYU-Hawaii in about 2 1/2 years.

Tanner and Rachel and Jacob loved the wedding party -- lots of attention from Grandmas and Grandpas and aunts and uncles. They loved seeing all the people and the cameras and all the yummy food. Especially the lunch at Craigos -- usually they get left home when everyone else goes out to dinner!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this wonderful day just perfect! Our friends and family mean so much to us and we are ever thankful to have your influence on us and our children.

April 13 - California Trip

On Saturday, April 11, 2009 we left for California. BriAnn and Kadi were busy but the rest of us settled into the car for a wonderful break from life. With Dallin's help to drive and with lots of excitement and energy built up with Tanner we started our journey first thing Saturday morning. Julie's family hosted us Easter Sunday and we were privileged to meet her wonderful family and even enjoy Easter dinner with them and their wonderful friends.

Sunday was particularly exciting for Jacob who was a brand new deacon in the Aaronic Priesthood, having been ordained the Sunday previous. So, he offered his help to the Deacon's Quorum and passed the sacrament for the first time in Santa Clarita California. What a super day!

Monday was spent in Disneyland and Tuesday in California Adventureland. All of us enjoyed the rides except sometimes Rachel who thought they were a little scary and rough and wet ...

Dallin's Cross Country -- 2008

What an exciting fall we had as we were able to follow Dallin's Cross Country running. He is so fun to watch and we know he can hear us yelling for him even though he doesn't wave back. He is so intense in his concentration and works hard to beat his former times. We're so proud of him and his hard work -- yes, Boyd has to admit there are lots of good that come from athletics. Dallin is our hero and we like to show him off!
